Delifonseca rises above the current challenges to feed the city well

In the face of the challenges brought by Covid-19, Delifonseca’s dockside restaurant and food hall has changed its approach to business dramatically. In response to government guidelines initially issued in March, the award winning deli has had to close, but remains committed to delivering quality food and produce to the city’s residents.

Delifonseca Dockside is taking online orders for delivery or contactless collection

With Proprietor Candice Fonseca leading the way, Delifonseca is now bringing chef-prepared meals along with its entire food hall product range, including specialist and everyday groceries, Edge Butchers’ meat, cooking kits, cheese and wine, right to the doorsteps of its customers.

Candice said: “During this current pandemic we’ve been confronted by a number of challenges and we’ve had no choice but to think creatively in order to survive. With restaurants and non-essential shops forced to close their doors and the wellbeing of our team to think about, we’ve completely changed the way that we work. Exceptional food will always be at the forefront of our business and we’ve worked tirelessly to ensure that we can continue to deliver on our ethos and uphold everything that we’ve become known for in the last 14 years.

“We now have a newly converted online shop that enables customers to browse and purchase some of our most popular products, ready to be collected or delivered. This is a completely innovative service for us, and we’ve been overwhelmed by the support we’ve had so far; but we can also supply so much more. Our food hall still has plentiful quantities of wine, spirits, beers and basic groceries as well as speciality cheeses, charcuterie, deli salads and antipasti to name a few. Our product range is so wide, we can even create pasta kits including ‘00’ flour or at-home baking bundles containing bread, flours and yeast. Our team can offer recipe recommendations whether you’re hoping to entertain the little ones or learn a new skill in the kitchen while living in lockdown.”

Now you can buy products, hampers and chef-prepared frozen meals online for delivery or click and collect

Delifonseca Dockside is taking online orders for delivery or contactless collection, with new options being added on a regular basis. For every order, customers will have the chance to speak to a member of the team to add bespoke items available in the food hall.

You can also purchase meal bundles or, for an extra-special night in, Saturday date night packages are available including three courses and a bottle of wine.

Candice added: “Our chef-made meals have been hugely popular and are supplied frozen for longevity - we freeze them immediately after production so all the goodness is locked in and even if you are short of freezer storage space it can sit safely in your fridge for at least four days. By doing this, we can maximise the range of dishes available and truly reflect our signature, ever-changing blackboard restaurant menu.

“However, we’ve also had a number of requests for special celebrations such as anniversaries and birthdays and as a result we’ve developed a special edition ‘Saturday Date Night Wine & Dine’ package. Inspired by our annual ‘Valentine’s at Home’, the chefs have created a special three course feast (with choices) to recreate the Delifonseca dining experience for you at home with the same brilliant standard of food, all ingeniously made to heat and plate easily, plus a bottle of wine - perfect for a weekend pick-me-up.

“We’ve had increasing demand from corporate clients across the city who have been using our service to create what we’ve started calling ‘Hunkerdown Hampers’, which are essentially bespoke gifts including meal packages and goodies especially tailored to say thank you to their teams stuck working remotely at home. It’s an unusual time for many and a delivery of handpicked items straight from our food hall is guaranteed to lift some spirits at a time when we need it most."
